Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ)

Brazil’s oldest higher education institution, originally founded in 1792 as the Royal Academy of Artillery, Fortification and Design before gaining official university status in 1920. As well as offering an extensive range of courses, UFRJ is also responsible for several museums, hospitals and research institutes throughout Rio de Janeiro.
